Selene is trapped in an endless sleep.

Caught overhearing a plan to sabotage a spaceport being built in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Selene is attacked and now remains in a hospital, unable to wake from her injuries. Her life—the one she created far from the big city where she can focus on her PhD and live in near-solitude—is at a standstill.

Within her slumbering mind, Selene is soon taken to the place where dreams are turned into nightmares. The darkest place within the dream-state world—the Abyssal Realm—is under the masterful control of sinister spirits, or wraiths, who spin joy into terror. Her dark dream weaver, known only as V, takes great pleasure in his conscripted position. That is, until he is given Selene as his next victim.

Making the mistake of learning who she is and delving into her recluse world, V soon finds himself completely taken by Selene and opens his mind and memories to her, transporting her beyond the terrors of the Abyssal Realm and showing her worlds of wonder. Vulnerable and, at heart, more caring than she once thought, Selene embarks on adventures in dreamland with her Dark Dream Weaver, coming to discover how he was forced into his position and what kind of man he was in his real life.

The closer Selene and V are drawn together while she remains unconscious, the harder they fall for one another. But soon, the powers that be within the Abyssal Realm discover that V is no longer terrorizing his victims and he is threatened with an eternal damnation. Selene’s sweet dark dream weaver must make the decision to continue in his sinister ways, risking Selene’s love for him, or face being taken from her forever. The Earthly world may make V’s decision for him first, though, as Selene begins to hear the echoed voices of her loved ones and can feel her body yearning to wake and return her to her real life.
